PM Terrance Drew to attend Spring Meetings of World Bank and IMF in Washington
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis will be attending the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund. The Prime Minister and his team will be travelling to Washington DC for the meetings.
The Prime Minister will be in Washington from April 22 to April 26 and have meeting with several high level officials. The week-long spring meetings will be the platform for the PM Drew to interact with world leaders.
The officials have shared that the discussion will centre around the issues affecting the Caribbean. Prime Minister Terrance Drew will also be discussing the economic future of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister made the announcement regarding this trip during his recent media interaction. He highlighted that the trip was very important in the light of the present circumstances in geopolitics.
He highlighted that they will discuss the financial and economic issues that are plaguing the country. He highlighted the ongoing tariffs and business issues that the administration is facing on the business front.
He highlighted that the administration will also be discussing the Citizenship by Investment Programme of the country. The government of St Kitts and Nevis is planning to transform the programme for the benefit of investors and locals alike.
The week long trip to Washington DC will be marked by several meetings that fall outside the spring meeting structure. The Prime Minister said that he will be taking these meetings in the effort to advocate for the economic interest of the federation.
In the last two and half years that PM Terrance Drew has spent at the head of the government, he has attended the spring meetings two times. His visit to Washington DC has been characterised by high level meetings and remarkable results.
This year, the leaders across the Caribbean are concerned about the economic fallout from new global tariffs. These tariffs coupled with the scrutiny on the Citizenship by Investment Programme of St Kitts and Nevis can lead to economic issues.
Finding a solution to these issues is a priority for the administration along with issues of the CARICOM and the OECS. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a delegation of government officials and Ministers.
