“The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and explore additional areas of collaboration with the United Nations. Although Bermuda is not a member state of the United Nations and is a territory of the United Kingdom, there are still opportunities to train and support Bermudians who can advocate for the Island’s interests in regional and international forums.

“Topics discussed during the meeting included food security, education, youth policy, environmental resilience, and support for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.”

Premier Burt noted, “This meeting reinforced the value of regional dialogue. Our young people, in particular, stand to benefit from increased exposure to global institutions, opportunities for learning, and greater involvement in helping to shape the issues that affect their future.”

Minister DeSilva added: “It was an honour to meet Mr. Zulu and his team. We look forward to continued engagement and the exchange of ideas and information that can benefit both Bermuda and the wider region.”
