LAHORE – DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry has inaugurated Punjab Inter-Division Women Hockey Tournament at National Hockey Stadium on Monday. The teams from all the divisions are participating in the seven-day tournament. The winners will be given a cash prize of Rs 300,000, runners-up Rs 200,000 and third position holders will earn Rs 100,000.
Talking to media, Khizar Afzaal said that holding this event after a long time is a welcome sign for future of women hockey. “We are quite upbeat that several potential female players will emerge from this platform.” He said that best players of the tournament will be given scholarships from Sports Endowment Fund and the top performing players will be included in Punjab teams for National Youth Games and National Games.
