Qantas halts Melbourne-Delhi flights – Executive Traveller

Qantas will suspend flights between Melbourne and Delhi between June and October 2025, with the route temporarily becoming a seasonal service.

The last QF69 Melbourne-Delhi flight will run on Saturday May 31, with the Qantas website showing a return on Monday October 27.

In an advisory note sent to travel agents this afternoon, Qantas said the cancellation was “due to some current fleet and operational requirements” for the Delhi-bound Airbus A330.

Qantas says it will move impacted business class passengers onto its Melbourne-Hong Kong service, while “travel agents will need to book impacted customers on Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to their end destination in India.”

Economy class passengers “will be reaccommodated onto a Qantas flight to/from Singapore, and a Qantas codeshare flight operated by IndiGo between Singapore and Delhi.”

As an alternative to those options, passengers also have the option to rebook onto other Qantas flights, retain the value of their ticket in credit, or claim a refund on their ticket.

“India is an important and growing market for Qantas, and our Bengaluru services, as well as codeshare flights via Singapore, remain on sale,” the airline stated, “and we look forward to resuming Melbourne-Delhi services in October.”

Until late October, however, newly-minted Virgin Australia partner Air India will be the sole airline offering direct flights between Melbourne and Delhi.

However, as previously reported, Air India is suspending its Melbourne-Mumbai flights from Friday March 28 through to at least mid-September 2025.
