Queen of the Ring is an American biopic on the life of a female pro wrestler, Mildred Burke, who changed the scenario of professional wrestling forever. The story movie is set in a time when pro wrestling for women was illegal all over the United States.
The film depicts the story of a small-town single mother, who embraces the danger as she dominates America’s most masculine sport and becomes the first million-dollar female athlete in history.
The much-awaited biopic has been garnering a lot of fame since it has been out. The film is written and directed by Ash Avildsen and is based on the 2010 book The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend by Jeff Leen, and Burke’s manuscripts.

Emily Bett Rickards as Mildred Burke
In the movie “Queen of the Ring,” the main role of Mildred Burke was played by a Canadian actress. Emily Bett Rickards. Emily is best known for her role as Felicity Smoak on The CW series Arrow, her first television credit. She has also reprised the role in the Arrowverse shows The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. Rickard could be seen portraying the role of the trailblazing women wrestler.
Josh Lucas as Billy Wolfe
American actor Josh Lucas played the male lead role in the film. Lucas played the role of Billy Wolfe, who was Mildred Burke’s husband and trainer, capturing the complexities of their relationship. Joshua is known for his movies like American Psycho, A Beautiful Mind, Sweet Home Alabama, Hulk, and The Black Demon.
Marie Avgeropoulos as Elvira Snodgrass
Canadian model and actress Marie Avgeropoulos played the role of Elvira Snodgrass in the movie. She is best known for her role as Octavia Blake on The CW’s post-apocalyptic science fiction television series The 100. She played the role of a contemporary of the wrestling world.
Walton Goggins as Jack Pfefer
Walton Goggins was seen as Jack Pfefer in the movie. He played the role of an influential wrestling promoter. Walton can currently be seen starring in the breakout hit series, FALLOUT at Amazon for director Jonathan Nolan. His performance has garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Naomi as Ethel Johson
WWE Women’s Champion Naomi who is currently getting attention for all her dispute with Jade Cargill has been featured in the movie. She has played the role of Ethel Johson. Ethel Johnson debuted as a wrestler in 1951 and became the first Black women’s champion. In Queen of the Ring, Ethel Johnson and two other Black female wrestlers join Mildred Burke and other white women in their promotion.
Kamille as June Byers
AEW fame Kamille has also joined the cast as June Byers. Though AEW isn’t using Kamille at the moment, she has the biggest role of any wrestler in the entire film. Kamille plays the role of Mildred Burke’s enemy. Kamille doesn’t have much dialogue, but she gets many minutes of screen time in the last scenes.

Queen of the Ring premiered at the Buffalo International Film Festival on October 15, 2024. It was released in theaters in the United States on March 7, 2025, by Sumerian Pictures.
