The move comes when large e-commerce players such as Flipkart and Amazon prepare for their annual Great Indian Festival sales and Big Billion Days, typically announced in late September or and early October. Instamart’s launch marks the first time a quick commerce platform is directly positioning itself against traditional e-commerce majors during the festive shopping season, a period that sees the highest online sales of the year.

Quick commerce players, including Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, and Zepto have been going big on festive shopping offerings a range of products across categories going well beyond what were their core categories like grocery, daily essentials, and small-ticket purchases delivered within minutes.

In a recent interview with CNBC-TV18, Instamart CEO Animesh Jha said that this year is going to be a big festive season. “Last year it was extremely big. This year with the curtain raiser of Rakhi and Ganesh Chaturthi, we have already gotten the glimpse that it is going to be the biggest festive season.”
