Radio ad volumes see moderate growth in January-June period

Ad volumes on radio stations witnessed a moderate growth of 3 per cent in the January-June period over the corresponding period last year, as per the latest data released by TAM AdEx in association with RCS. Gujarat was the leading State with 18 per cent share of ad volumes followed by Maharashtra with 16 per cent share. Jaipur retained the top position with 9 per cent share of radio ad volumes during the first half of 2025.

The report is based on analysis of ad trends across 110 radio stations in the country.

“During January–June 25, ad volumes grew 3 per cent over January–June 24, indicating an upward trend,” the report noted. Over 360 categories advertised on radio stations during this period. The top categories in terms of contribution to radio ad volumes included real estate and properties, hospitals and clinics, cars, jewellery retailers, clothing retailers, schools, life insurance, white goods retailers and coaching centres.

“Among all the categories, hospitals & clinics saw the highest increase in terms of ad secondages with growth of 18 per cent followed by jewellery retailers,” it added.

Maruti Suzuki India, LIC, Jeena Sikho Lifecare, SBS Biotech, Vishnu Packaging (Vimal Elaichi), State Bank of India, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors, LIC Housing Finance and Muthoot Financial Enterprises were the top ten advertisers on radio stations. These top ten advertisers contributed 14 per cent share of ad volumes on radio stations, the report noted.

While Gujarat and Maharashtra were among the top two States in terms of share of ad volumes on radio in the first half of the year, the top five States accounted for 62 per cent of the total ad volumes. Jaipur (9 per cent) was the leading city among the 18 cities on radio in terms of share of ad volumes followed by Nagpur in this period.

With 37 per cent share of ad volumes, evening was the most preferred time-band for advertising on radio. “Evening & morning time bands together added 68 per cent share of ad volumes across radio stations,” the report added. Ads of 20-40 seconds were most preferred for advertising on radio during the first half of the year, the TAM AdEx report noted
