Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ trailer released: The Lokesh Kanagaraj film promises to be a treat to Superstar’s fans

The much-awaited trailer of the upcoming Kollywood action thriller Coolie, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, has just dropped. If the trailer is anything to go by, the film will be a raw, rugged action affair, with plenty of ‘Rajinisms’—something that will have the fans hooting and cheering in absolute joy. 

The trailer features some intense, stylised action with powerful, gritty visuals. The superstar is in his full glory as he takes on baddies in his inimitable style. 

The film, which has an ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan,  along with the Superstar, is directed by ace Kollywood director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The trailer also features a surprise cameo by none other than Bollywood star Aamir Khan.

This is the first time  Sathyaraj is teaming up with Rajinikanth in nearly four decades.

Coolie trailer release has been a highly anticipated event as the songs of the movie that were already dropped—’Monica’, ‘Chikitu’ and ‘Powerhouse’—have already become internet sensations, intensifying the wait for the film. One could gauge the anticipation from the fact that the teaser of the movie already has 34 million views. 

‘Coolie’ is not connected to the ‘Lokesh Cinematic Universe’ (LCU); it is a standalone story focused on gold smuggling. The director had earlier said he wanted to showcase the negative shade of Rajinikanth, similar to the films of the actor in his early days. 

The soundtrack of the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. This is his fourth collaboration with Lokesh after Master, Vikram and Leo and fifth with the Superstar after Petta, Darbar, Jailer and Vettaiyan.
