Ray-Ban, in partnership with Meta, has launched the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in India. The smart glasses combine Ray-Ban’s established frame designs with integrated hardware and Meta’s AI technology. They allow users to perform various tasks hands-free, including making calls, streaming media, capturing photos and videos, and accessing real-time information using voice commands via Meta AI.
Meta has announced that future updates will allow users to send and receive messages, photos, and make audio/video calls on Instagram directly from the glasses.
The glasses come in two frame styles: Wayfarer (standard and large) and Skyler, with various lens options including sun, clear and polarised. A built-in ultra-wide 12 MP camera enables 1080p video recording of up to 60 seconds, while open-ear speakers and a five-microphone array support calls, audio playback, and voice interaction. Users can activate Meta AI by saying “Hey Meta” to ask questions, identify surroundings, or control media.
The glasses also support real-time translation in English, French, Italian, and Spanish, functioning offline when language packs are pre-downloaded. They connect to iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and integrate with WhatsApp, Messenger, and soon, Instagram, allowing users to send messages and make audio or video calls directly from the glasses. Battery life offers up to four hours of active use, with a charging case that extends total use to 36 hours. Through the Meta View and Meta AI apps, users can manage content, continue AI conversations, and perform AI-driven photo edits.
The glasses are available for pre-order starting today at a starting price of ₹29,900.
