Reddit launches AI-Powered ‘Answers’ Feature in India

Reddit – the global platform famous for its community-driven discussions and forums – has come up with its latest offering, Reddit Answers. It’s an AI-powered feature that will help generate and summarise responses faster. And believe it or not, India is one of the first countries to get access!

Reddit has long been a hub for user-generated information and nuanced knowledge. It has over 100,000 active communities called subreddits on features ranging from travel to finance to anime to sports. But while these are useful and offer a treasure trove of information, navigating your way through it all and finding the right responses can be cumbersome, especially for new users.

What is Reddit Answers?

Reddit apparently views India as a potential growth market where the arrival of AI can drive fresh engagement.

How does Reddit Answers work?

It’s fairly simple. Here are the steps to use Reddit Answers:

1. Go to the Reddit website and sign up or log in.
2. Post a question of your choice. For instance: ‘Is Bangalore a good place to relocate to?’
3. Reddit’s AI will scan relevant subreddits and summarise an answer using bullet points.
4. You can then click on the subreddit links with each bullet point in case you want to explore that point further.

This feature is especially useful for questions that don’t have one correct answer. It is more relevant for responses that are based on lived experiences or multiple perspectives.

Language Support & Accessibility

Reddit is also looking to become more accessible for Indian users by introducing AI powered translation tools, starting with Hindi. This means users can translate posts and threads from English to Hindi or Hindi to English.

The plan is to roll out more languages in the near future and reach out to users who prefer browsing in their native languages.
