Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in community empowerment and poverty alleviation with three philanthropic institutions.
“We all take every step necessary in order to strengthen Indonesia and make it self-reliant,” he remarked in Jakarta on Thursday (August 7).
He noted that the signing of the cooperation documents reflects the government’s eagerness and willingness to view philanthropic entities as strategic partners in helping people achieve self-reliance.
According to Iskandar, this philanthropic initiative aligns with Presidential Instruction No. 8 of 2025 concerning the optimization of efforts against poverty and extreme poverty.
He stated that the instruction mandates the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment to coordinate with non-governmental bodies or entities in initiatives aimed at helping citizens break free from poverty and extreme poverty.

“Through this collaboration, I am convinced and optimistic that we, as a nation, will soon be able to overcome a range of issues, especially poverty,” Iskandar affirmed.
Furthermore, the minister urged all stakeholders, including philanthropic agencies, to shift their approach in humanitarian activities from an aid-focused model to one centered on community empowerment.
“We will continue to strive to build the future not only by providing social assistance but also by continuously empowering communities. It is important to consistently drive collaboration between the government and philanthropists to address both current and future challenges,” he stated.
The minister signed the MoUs at the FIFest Indonesia Philanthropy Festival 2025 with leaders from the Association of Indonesian Humanitarian Forums, the Indonesian Philanthropic Association, and the Association of Zakat Forums.
