Rockies Film Festival enters 25th year
Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club is celebrating 25 years of bringing films to appreciative local audiences with the opening feature of the Rockies Film Festival on Thursday, September 21 at Key City Theatre at 7 p.m.
The opening work is The Eight Mountains (subtitled), an exceptionally high scoring film according to Rotten Tomatoes.
This rich, beautiful and inexpressibly sad film is about friendship between men who can’t talk about their feelings.
It is set in the breathtaking Italian Alpine Valley of Aosta, which includes the slopes of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
But the “eight mountains” of the title refers to the eight highest peaks of Nepal: a mysterious symbol of ambition and conquest. This movie has air in its lungs and love in its heart devoted to beauty and what it means to be human.
