Fluenta has recently introduced a new product called FlareSens, which combines software, AI, and data analysis, said Rohan Prakash Rao, Fluenta Representative, in an interview with Abha Rustagi, Associate Editor, Energetica India.
Que: Can you tell us what Fluenta is showcasing at IEW and what differentiates your solutions from others in the market?
Ans: Fluenta specialises in flare gas measurement solutions, and at IEW, we are showcasing a premium product that utilises ultrasonic technology—a non-intrusive and unique technology available in the market. The primary advantage of this technology is that it does not interfere with the flare gas process. Additionally, it offers an exceptional measurement accuracy of up to 0.5 percent.
Que: What challenges are associated with measuring flare gas in upstream oil and gas operations, and how does Fluenta address them?
Ans: Flare gas is essentially a waste gas, meaning its composition is not consistent at all times. Apart from meeting accuracy requirements set by API standards and regional or national regulations on pollution control, we also focus on environmental impact. For instance, we are currently in Delhi, which has one of the lowest air quality indices. Our role is to ensure that industrial pollutants released into the environment, particularly air pollution, are accurately measured. This data is crucial for both end users and government agencies, helping them develop strategies to control emissions in the future.
One of the main challenges in this sector, aside from the measurement process itself, is regulatory compliance. However, the Indian government has introduced a programme aimed at reducing hazardous air pollutants by 40 percent by 2030. This initiative is a major driving force for us, encouraging our expansion in the market and allowing us to contribute towards achieving these environmental goals.
Que: How do events like IEW contribute to the growth and collaboration within India’s energy sector?
Ans: IEW serves as a major platform for Fluenta in India, providing an opportunity to showcase our products and connect with key industry players such as ONGC and regional refineries. It allows us to introduce the latest technologies available in the market. A significant milestone for us has been receiving approval from Engineers India Limited (EIL) last year.
This certification places us ahead of many other players in the industry. With our technology, certifications, and the exposure gained through IEW, we are strengthening our presence in the Indian energy sector. The networking opportunities at IEW are also invaluable, helping us build meaningful collaborations.
Que: How do Fluenta’s measurement solutions assist companies in complying with environmental regulations?
Ans: We have recently introduced a new product called FlareSens, which combines software, AI, and data analysis. This system provides real-time health checks and detailed data on emissions released into the atmosphere.
FlareSens ensures that all stakeholders have access to the same accurate data, which can then be integrated into government agency databases for further analysis. This enables better regulatory compliance and helps authorities monitor industrial emissions more effectively.
Que: Are there any upcoming solutions or expansion plans in the pipeline?
Ans: Yes, we are currently working on CO2 and hydrogen measurement solutions. The CO2 measurement product is set to launch by the end of this year, while the hydrogen measurement solution is expected next year.
Hydrogen, despite being a clean energy source, still requires precise measurement, and there are significant challenges associated with using ultrasonic technology for this purpose. Our R&D team is actively working to overcome these challenges.
CO2, on the other hand, is one of the most hazardous air pollutants, and we are focused on developing effective measurement solutions for it. We are in the final stages of testing and approvals, and both products should be available soon.
Que: Are there any partnerships Fluenta has established in India?
Ans: Yes, in India, we have partnered with AWWONS, who support us in the market. Additionally, we maintain strong R&D collaborations with various universities in Norway, where our head office is located. We also have an in-house R&D team dedicated to innovation and product development.
