A fashion show featuring Rohit Bal’s collection is never just about the clothes – it is an experience that transports you into a world where tradition and artistry collide. At the India Couture Week 2025, Bal’s team did exactly what he would have – unveiling a collection that was as timeless as it can get.
Called Kash-Gul, the collection drew inspiration from the serene beauty of Kashmir and the timeless poetry of Gulistan—a garden of flowers. It has been rooted in heritage yet it is modern in form. The collection blends structure with softness. As a part of the collection, silhouettes were layered and refined, crafted in Chanderi, matka silk, and velvet, with intricate gold zardozi and fine threadwork.

In a palette of ivory, black, and wine, Kash-Gul spoke of calm confidence, quiet luxury, and the enduring soul of Kashmir. It is a tribute to craft, culture, and beauty that tells a story beyond the garment.
Velvet, which is a Bal staple, made a comeback in majestic form. From sharply tailored sherwanis in deep wine and midnight blue to floor-sweeping gowns kissed with antique gold embellishments, the richness of the fabric brought drama and depth to the runway. The sherwanis, especially, stood out for their regal fit as they reminded the audience why Bal continues to be the go-to name for grooms who want to make a statement.
It was not just the menswear that dazzled. Velvet was used just as lavishly in women’s silhouettes as well. It was used in a series of gowns that sparkled with baroque gold threadwork and zardozi. Some featured exaggerated sleeves and high necklines, while others were sleek and form-fitting.

As the show was reaching its end, the most handsome Arjun Rampal, walked the ramp as showstopper. During his walk, he took a moment to remember the designer, who was all his very dear friend.
Even in his absence, Bal’s presence could be felt in every thread, every silhouette and every moment as the models took over the ramp. The show was more than just a couture presentation, it was a homage. To the man who turned Indian couture into high art and to the one who showed us that tradition does not have to be boring. That velvet can be sensual and white is not plain, it is powerful. And that fashion, when done right, can make you feel something long after the final bow.
