Rossendale’s X-RAYS to perform Take That musical The Band
Set in Manchester in 1992, The Band follows five teenage girls whose love for a boyband shapes their friendship.
When they reunite 25 years later in Prague as the band itself tours, the musical shows how music can bind lives together.
X-RAYS Rossendale is bringing the musical to life at Bacup Royal Court Theatre from October 15 to 18, filled with Take That hits including Relight My Fire, Back for Good, and Never Forget.
The society has rehearsed since April every Sunday at Halo Dance and Fitness in Rawtenstall, with direction by Michael Haworth, choreography by Millie Hall, and music direction by Paul Nicholls.
(Image: Lydia Flavell) Choreographer Millie Hall said, “I have loved choreographing The Band musical with X-RAYS, especially the medley with the boy band.
“It’s a fun, lively, and upbeat musical featuring all Take That hits.
“The cast is super talented and has been working extremely hard.
“I can’t wait for show week in the theatre, to entertain the audiences with high-energy dance numbers, epic vocal performances and total 90s vibes! It’s a show not to be missed!

Director Michael Haworth added: “It is my absolute pleasure to be working with such a dedicated cast and crew, bringing to life the ultimate homage to 90’s boy band Take That!
“The story of ‘The Band’ centres on five totally refreshingly ordinary teenage girls who have a primal obsession with a boyband, its music, and the glitter glue that holds their friendship fast.
“Our cast have been working tirelessly throughout the summer months nailing the script, harmonies and slick choreography. ‘The Band’ is all about the redemptive power of fandom.
“Our audiences will be in for a treat when they witness epic performances and an emotional rollercoaster of a show.
“Could it be magic..? Sure!”
(Image: Lydia Flavell) Newcomer Sally Fawthrop, who plays Older Rachel, said: “I am new to the world of theatre.
“After watching many X-RAYS productions and thinking, ‘I would love to try that’, I am now starring as one of the lead roles in The Band!
“I was very nervous about being part of such a well-known theatre group, but the whole cast welcomed me with open arms and made me feel more and more confident throughout every rehearsal.
“The Band is a fab, feel-good musical, so even if you’re not Take That’s biggest fan, I am sure you will love this show.
“So please come along to support not only me as a theatre newbie but all the amazing cast too!!”
X-RAYS hosted an “I Love 90s Party” fundraiser at Haslingden Cricket Club on September 6, with all funds raised on the evening going towards funding the show.
“As a not-for-profit, amateur organisation, we are grateful for people’s support and donations to help us produce high-quality theatre productions for the people of Rossendale,” a spokesperson from X-RAYS added.
Tickets for The Band (£18 adults, £15 concessions) are on sale now on StageStubs.com.
