Safety advisory to avoid travel on rain-ravaged roads

Due to continuous rainfall, many roads in the national Capital have been affected by waterlogging, uprooting of trees, and potholes, prompting Delhi Traffic Police to issue an advisory, asking commuters to plan their journey accordingly and avoid the damaged stretches for their convenience.

“Traffic Alert: Due to incessant #DelhiRains in the last 24 hours, many roads have been affected by water logging, uprooting of trees and potholes. Commuters advised to plan their journey accordingly and avoid these stretches for their convenience,” traffic police tweeted while sharing details of the damaged and waterlogged roads across the city.

As per traffic police, there are potholes on SPM to Vandematram Marg u-turn, Ashram to Kilori, Najafgarh-Kapashera road, Delhi Cantonment metro station, Mayapuri to Dhaula Kuan, on loop from Azadpur to Shalimar Bagh, Patel Chowk’s roundabout, Sansad Marg in front of Niti Ayog and Talkatora Road near RML roundabout. “Water logging was there on the following roads– Firni road near Dhansa bus stand Najafgarh, Abai road near Abai Marg Chanakyapuri, Aurobindo marg near Adchini red light and Rohtak Road near Rajdhani park metro station,” traffic police said.

The trees were uprooted at outer ring road near QU block Pitampura, Mehrauli Gurugram road near Y-point Chhattarpur CDR chowk, Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg near Kaveri Apartment Masoodpur, Aurobindo marg near Adchini red light and Mahipalpur Chattarpur Marg in front of Fortis Hospital.

Meanwhile, the waterlogging, uprooting of trees and potholes caused massive traffic jams in various parts of Delhi leaving commuters stranded in long queues of cars at major roads.

“I am a commuter from Dhaula Kuan to Rajouri but while returning from Dhaula Kuan today, my car got damaged due to a pothole near Delhi Cantonment metro station. My car’s front bumper got detached and now I have to bear expense to get it repaired,” said Anil, a cab driver.
