SAGG Eco Village Kashmir shines at ICRT South Asia Responsible Tourism Awards 2025
Ganderbal, Sep 14: SAGG Eco Village Kashmir has bagged the Silver Award at the ICRT Indian Subcontinent Responsible Tourism Awards 2025, held at BLTM in New Delhi. The recognition, under the category of Climate Action, marks the first time a Kashmiri initiative has been honoured on such a platform.
Founded by Fayaz Ahmad Dar, SAGG Eco Village is Jammu and Kashmir’s first regenerative eco-village enterprise, combining farm stays, ecological entrepreneurship, and community-based tourism. Built on once-barren land in Lar area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, the project has transformed fragile terrain into a model of sustainability rooted in ecology, culture, and community.
The ICRT Awards celebrate responsible tourism practices across South Asia that promote inclusivity, innovation, and environmental stewardship.
SAGG Eco Village was recognised for its regenerative practices, its contribution to the local economy, and its efforts in climate resilience — demonstrating that tourism, when responsibly designed, can restore land and empower communities.
Accepting the award, founder Fayaz Ahmad Dar said: “At SAGG Eco Village, tourism is not about consuming places — it’s about regenerating land, livelihoods, and lives. Every guest who walks through our orchards, eats from our soil, or stays in our cottages becomes part of this regenerative journey. This award is not just for us — it belongs to the land and people of Kashmir, whose resilience and wisdom make such work possible.”
