Saiyaara Worldwide Box Office: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda Film Hits Century In First Weekend

Mohit Suri is back and how! The director, along with Yash Raj Films, launched two new faces with Saiyaara amid intrigue, curiosity and a want for a memorable, enjoyable and cinematic love story. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s film did that. Mounted on a mid-scale budget, Saiyaara is turning out to be a success story. In the first weekend, the romantic musical has achieved an important milestone.

According to Pinkvilla’s report, Saiyaara has touched the Rs 100 crore mark globally on Sunday. As per the estimates stated by the publication, India gross is Rs 96.75 crore (NBOC: Rs 83 crore). The film has collected USD 1.50 million (INR 12.25 crore) in international markets. Saiyaara’s early worldwide estimates are Rs 109 crore.

In an interview with IMDb, Mohit recalled being discouraged from making Saiyaara. He said, “Well, there was a time post-COVID, when people were making films that were all those blockbusters, larger-than-life films where a lot of buildings were blowing up or helicopters were blowing up, tanks and cars were flying, and it almost became like a cold war of VFX shots. Everyone thought that was the norm. I think, at that time, I saw this documentary on Netflix called The Romantics, which spoke about the angry young man and how someone came up with a romantic film at that time. I suddenly started writing a newcomer romantic film because I felt love is something that can happen at all ages, but first love, first heartbreak, happens around the age of 20-25. So that’s when I started writing this, and I was told by a lot of senior filmmakers that you’re making a mistake, you’re wasting money and time because no one’s going to make a newcomer love story in today’s day and age, especially not for the theatres. I just felt there was a need at that moment where I, as an audience member, wanted to watch a love story for youngsters, and here we are today.”

About Saiyaara

Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, released in theatres on July 18. The film tells the story of Vaani Batra, an aspiring journalist, and Krish Kapoor, who dreams of becoming the biggest singing sensation. Their worlds collide, and they fall head over heels in love with each other. However, their love story isn’t obstacle-free. Saiyaara is about how love can conquer odds.
