Sales of Bajaj two-wheelers fell 4% in September.

Sales for Bajaj Auto fell by 4% in September to 348,355 units, down from 361,036 units in the same month last year. In contrast to the 173,945 units registered in September 2021, domestic sales for the Indian two-wheeler maker increased by 28% last month to 222,912 units. However, the export figures drastically decreased, hurting the overall sales numbers.

Compared to 187,091 units exported by Bajaj Auto in the same month a year prior, 125,443 units of motorcycles were shipped to foreign markets last month, a sharp fall of 33%. Sales of the only scooter and electric vehicle produced by Bajaj Auto, the Chetak EV, stayed steady in September with 2,557 units sold.

The current financial year’s half-yearly sales for the manufacturer have also been slightly impacted. In comparison to the same period previous fiscal year, the automaker’s overall two-wheeler sales fell by 3% to 18,66,192 units in the period from April to September this year, from 19,29,220 units.

In comparison to the same six months in FY22, Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales increased by 13% to 935,552 units in the first half of the current fiscal year. However, compared to the 10,98,520 units sold during the same time period last fiscal year, export figures drastically decreased by 15% to 930,640 units between April and September of this year.
