Samsung Partners with Startup India to Support Young Innovators in Tier 2, 3 Cities

Samsung has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Startup India, an initiative launched by the Indian government, to support young innovators from remote areas and strengthen the country’s startup ecosystem through a nationwide innovation competition.

The MoU was signed in Delhi, integrating the competition, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, with Startup India’s national framework of incubation, mentorship and policy assistance.

According to a statement from the company, this collaboration aims to identify and nurture high-potential talent, especially from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, by providing access to infrastructure, expert guidance, market connections and funding opportunities.

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a significant initiative that focuses on innovation and education, designed to inspire problem-solving, creativity and social impact among Indian youth.

“By bringing together Samsung Solve for Tomorrow’s vision and Startup India’s expansive ecosystem and network, we aim to nurture the next generation of changemakers from the remote corners of India to become the problem solvers of tomorrow,” SP Chun, corporate vice president at Samsung Southwest Asia, said.

The newly formed partnership will allow Startup India to use its extensive network of incubators and accelerators while Samsung connects directly with students and young innovators through practical learning and innovation challenges.

Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow programme, launched in the US in 2010, now operates in 68 countries with over three million participants worldwide. The 2025 edition features an incubation program for the top four teams, each receiving a grant of ₹1 crore, while the top 20 teams will get ₹20 lakh and the top 40 teams ₹8 lakh.

This year’s participants focused on four themes: AI for a safer, smarter and inclusive Bharat; health, hygiene and well-being; social change through sports and education; and environmental sustainability. The program has identified young innovators from remote districts across India, including Samastipur in Bihar, Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir and Cachar in Assam.

“This partnership will not only encourage youth from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to ideate and innovate, but also align closely with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” said Sanjiv Singh, joint secretary of the promotion of industry and internal trade department (DPIIT).
