KUCHING (Sept 1): Sarawak’s rising young talent Taylor Louise has made her musical theatre debut in Dreamweaver The Musical, staged at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) on Aug 29 and 30.
The production ran for three shows over two days, with Taylor cast in the role of Rayna, the only child performer in the ensemble.
Her appearance in Dreamweaver came soon after she represented Malaysia at the Royal College of Music Britten Theatre in London for the 10th Anniversary ASAF Winner Showcase, where she was the sole Sarawakian performer featured.
In the musical, Taylor shared the stage with veteran theatre actors. Audience members praised her strong vocals, stage presence and emotional delivery.
“I’m truly thankful for the chance to be part of Dreamweaver The Musical. It has been a wonderful learning journey, and a dream come true to perform alongside such talented and supportive cast members,” she said in a statement today.
Audience members also expressed their admiration for her performance on social media.
One wrote: “Simply amazing and hilarious with the authentic storyline and songs reminding us of the importance of preserving our heritage. Rayna, you stole my heart!”
Another described her as having “a powerful voice and impressive acting,” while another commented: “Taylor Louise’s voice is soooo beautiful. I really enjoyed the musical.”
Dreamweaver The Musical closed to positive reception, with its heritage-inspired storyline and engaging performances drawing praise from theatre-goers.
Taylor’s debut adds to her growing list of achievements, which includes international recognition at competitions in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Sanremo, Italy.
