Riyadh: Saudi Arabias merchandise exports rose by 2.4 percent in January 2025 compared to the same month last year, while non-oil exports (including re-exports) increased by 10.7 percent compared to January 2024.
On the imports side, the value of imports grew by 8.3 percent in January 2025. However, the trade surplus declined by 11.9 percent compared to January 2024.
According to the International Trade Statistics Bulletin for January, released today by the General Authority for Statistics of Saudi Arabia, the ratio of non-oil exports (including re-exports) to imports increased to 36.5 percent in January 2025, up from 35.7 percent in January 2024. Meanwhile, the share of oil exports in total exports decreased from 74.8 percent in January 2024 to 72.7 percent in January 2025.
The bulletin noted that chemical industry products were among the most significant non-oil exports, accounting for 23.7 percent of total non-oil exports. The largest category of imported goods was machinery, electrical equipment, and parts, making up 25.9 percent of total imports.
It also indicated that China remained Saudi Arabias top trading partner. Exports to China represented 15.2 percent of total exports in January, while imports from China accounted for 26.4 percent of the total imports during the same month.
