Schedule of events at ¡Mira! Las Cruces Festival

The annual festival highlighting southern New Mexico’s pearl of a city, Las Cruces, is back this month.

¡Mira! Las Cruces Festival is a free, family-friendly event hosted in downtown Las Cruces. It features music, food, culture and fun.

Use this guide to help navigate the many planned activities at ¡Mira! Las Cruces.

When is ¡Mira! Las Cruces?

¡Mira! Las Cruces Festival is planned for Saturday, April 26.

Between 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. events will be held at the Plaza La Cruces.

Vendors can be found along Main St. A car show and live music is scheduled for the Rio Grande Theatre beginning at 5 p.m.

Are tickets required?

The event is free to the community. No tickets are required.

Vendors at the festival selling items will accept cash and credit cards.

DJ Johnny Kage headlines ¡Mira! Las Cruces Festival

DJ Johnny Kage will headline ¡Mira! Las Cruces Festival.

Kage will perform at 8 p.m. and then at 9 p.m. for the finale.

Kage, an El Paso, Texas native with ties to Las Cruces, is host of the radio show “Morning Mash” on 104.3 HIT FM and DJs for SiriusXM station “Pitbull’s Globalization.

He’s expected to feature music popular to the region during his performance in Las Cruces.

“We are excited to showcase the multiple genres of music that capture the spirit of Las Cruces and the region at this year’s ¡mira! event,”  Visit Las Cruces Executive Director Rochelle Miller said. “DJ Johnny Kage is the perfect performer to pull it off. We are also taking the festival to new heights with a drone show that tells the story of our community.”

  • 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Ballet Folklorico de Corazon
  • 3:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. The Desert Stompers Jazz Band
  • 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Luchador Matches (Corner of Mai St. and Las Cruces Ave.)
  • 4 p.m. Danza Azteca
  • 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Live bands at Rio Grande theatre
  • 5 p.m. Mayor’s welcome; Mariachi Feminil Flores
  • 6 p.m. Dance lessons on the plaza with Sol Ballroom
  • 7 p.m. Cumbia with El Gozao
  • 8 p.m. DJ Johnny Kage
  • 8:45 p.m. Drone show
  • 9 p.m. -9:30 p.m. DJ Johnny Kage finale

Rio Grande Theatre events

The live bands will perform at the Rio Grande Theatre located at 211 N. Main St.

  • 4:30 p.m. The Vick Walker Band
  • 5:30 p.m. Vybez Band
  • 6:45 Proud Pete

Bring your lawn chairs, water and cameras

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs for comfort as seating is limited.

AccuWeather predicts temperatures will soar to over 80 degrees Fahrenheit on April 26. Those taking in the events should think about bringing plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Well behaved pets are welcome at the event, according to Visit Las Cruces, the City’s tourism department and festival organizer.

Street closures and parking

Las Crucens are advised that Main Street will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25. The closure extends to Bowman Ave, and inlcudes Las Cruces Ave and Griggs Ave.

The Farmer’s Market was moved to Sunday, April 27.

Free parking can be found in downtown Las Cruces during the festival.

Visit Las Cruces advises that lots on the southeast side of Main St. and behind the New America School will be closed. The lot behind the Rio Grande Theatre will also be closed.
