Science Central holds early New Year’s Eve event for kids
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Science Central in Fort Wayne held their annual ‘Countdown to Noon’ today as a way for kids to celebrate New Year’s Eve without having to stay up late.
When the clocks hit noon, 2025 balloons were dropped from the ceiling on the more than one thousand guests in attendance. What followed was lots of popping and cheering.
A separate countdown was held in the ‘Science on a Sphere’ room for those with sensory sensitivities.

The non-profit celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Interim Executive Director at Science Central, Larry Kay, spoke on some of the highlights of 2024.
“Well it’s been a great year, we installed a new slide, the kids really love that, it’s been a great exhibit for us to do. We’ve done a lot with a lot of the other exhibits in terms of updating and replacing them, and we started construction on our planetarium, which will be done around the end of March,” Kay said.
For the new year, he says we can expect lots of new and returning family-friendly events with a hint of science. “One we’re excited about is gonna be a mini-golf in the museum exhibit,” Kay said.
