Science collaborations key to global solidarity, says Dharmendra Pradhan at IIT Hyderabad-Telangana Today

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized international scientific collaboration as key to achieving global solidarity while addressing a global conference of young scientists at IIT-Hyderabad. Sangareddy: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan opined that Vishwa Bandhutva (global solidarity) could be achieved through international scientific collaborations. He was addressing the international conference of young scientists, Confluence of Visionaries: Empowering Science for Global Change,” being organised by the Global Young Academy (GYA), Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), and the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) on the IIT-H campus at Kandi here.

The week-long event, being held from June 8 to 14, is hosting 135 international delegates representing 60 countries, along with 65 national delegates, thereby establishing a truly diverse and inclusive forum. It also features the annual general meeting of the GYA, facilitating in-depth dialogue and strategic engagement among emerging leaders in the global scientific community.

Addressing young scientists from across the globe on Tuesday, Pradhan said India is at the forefront of the global knowledge movement, with an education system that is both flexible and rooted in its civilisational ethos. He highlighted cross-cultural learning and talent exchange as vital components of this journey. In conclusion, he described science as regenerative and integral to the vision of Viksit Bharat, where economic strength is complemented by scientific excellence.

President of INSA, Prof. Asutosh Sharma, also spoke.

There were discussions and thematic sessions on environmental, social and governance (ESG), health and nutrition for global wellness, Industry 5.0: augmenting human-machine interface, and innovation and entrepreneurship in the global landscape. Co-chair of GYA Yensi Flores Bueso, Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT-H Prof. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Director of IIT-H Prof. B.S. Murty, and others were present.
