University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboy football team is 1-0 on the season, heading into their home opener this coming Saturday against Northern Iowa.
The Pokes won at Akron last week 10-zip, and while that’s a statement for the defense, Head Coach Jay Sawvel says the offense could’ve done better.
UW had 426 yards of total offense, but only got into the red zone twice.
The first time resulted in a field goal and the second time ended with a turnover on downs at the Zips’ 8 yard line.
Coach Sawvel adds first game jitters are not much of an excuse and that’s not going to go over well with anyone if the offense doesn’t show improvement.
Kickoff this Saturday from War Memorial Stadium in Laramie is scheduled for 2pm.
Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan will play their home finale today as the boys and girls will host Jackson in a North Conference dual, beginning at 11am.
This weekend the team is scheduled to play 4 non-conference games on the road.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs will play on Friday at Cheyenne South, and will also play Torrington while they’re there.
On Saturday, Sheridan will visit Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost their 2nd game in a row at home vs. San Francisco last night.
Final score 7-4.
Hunter Goodman hit a 2-run home run and had 3 RBI’s in a losing effort.
Last night’s loss is #100 on the season and there’s still 23 games to be played on the schedule.
The Rocks need only to win 3 of those remaining 23 games to have a better record than last year’s Chicago White Sox team, which went 41-121, and is the worst 162-game record in the modern era.
Colorado will try to avoid the sweep today, starting at 6:40pm.
After that, the Rockies are off tomorrow, and then start a 3-game series at home vs. San Diego on Friday.
