Shahi Kabir’s film with Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew to hit theatres in June

After the gut-wrenching Ela Veezha Poonchira, Shahi Kabir is back with another cop film, titled Ronth. Malik actor Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew star in the lead roles in this upcoming Malayalam film. In the latest update, the makers have announced the Ronth release date to be Jun 13, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming movie.

Ronth marks the second directorial venture of writer-director Shahi Kabir. The film, starring Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew as two cops, will release in theatres on June 13, 2025, the makers have now confirmed. 

The film’s title and first-look poster, with the two lead actors, were released in February.

Apart from Trance actor Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew, the film will also feature Sudhi Koppa, Arun Cherukavil, Lakshmi Menon, Krisha Kurup, Nandhan Unni and others in key supporting roles. The film will narrate the story of the two cops and certain events revolving around them. Shahi Kabir has also penned the script for Ronth.

State award-winning Manesh Madhavan handles the cinematography. Anil Johnson is the music director, with the lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar. 

For the unversed, Shahi Kabir, a noted screenwriter, had recently penned Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban. The Jithu Ashraf directorial, which also stars Vishak Nair, Jagadish and Priyamani, garnered largely positive reviews and was commercially successful. He had also penned the scripts for Joju George’s Joseph, and Nayattu, both of which also won positive reviews.

Dileesh Pothan was recently seen in movies such as Am Ah and Ouseppinte Osiyathu. He played Stephen, a road construction supervisor in Am Ah, which is now streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium. Ouseppinte Osiyathu, which was released in theatres in March, became available for streaming on Prime Video, Manorama Max, and Saina Play last week. 

On the other hand, Roshan Mathew, who was last seen in the Hindi film Ulajh, is awaiting the release of Kankhajura. The series will release on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium.
