Slushii Blends Music and Manga With His Most Personal Project Yet: ‘Chrysalis’

Electronic artist Slushii has always been known for his vivid imagination and boundary-pushing sound. Now, he’s turning those qualities into something even more expansive: a universe.

With the release of his new album Chrysalis, Slushii (Julian Scanlan) invites listeners into a deeply emotional journey shaped by transition, healing, and creative freedom. Released independently via his label SONICdream, the album features 18 tracks that drift between dreamy synths, energetic drops, and layered vocals. Collaborations with CloudNone, SPIRIT LINK, and TIFFVNYJOY bring added depth, but at its core, Chrysalis is a solo metamorphosis.

The music, though, is only part of the story. In tandem with Chrysalis, Slushii has launched Sapient Dream, a new WEBTOON series that brings his vision into a visual realm. Each episode is paired with a song from the album, allowing fans to engage with the world both sonically and visually.

The multimedia rollout kicked off at Anime Expo 2025, where Slushii previewed the series, performed his Operation Overload set, and met fans face-to-face. For longtime listeners, the experience marks a full-circle moment, uniting the Slushii sound with the visual language that’s influenced him since the start.
