Somalia Receives Arab League Support for Curriculum Development and Debt Relief

Mogadishu, Saturday, September 27, 2025 — Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Saturday received a high-level delegation from the Arab League, which arrived in the country to oversee the implementation of a major project aimed at supporting Somalia’s national education curriculum and advancing the Arabic language.

 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre expressed his gratitude to the Arab League for its ongoing support in key sectors including diplomacy, education, and state-building. He also acknowledged the organization’s significant role in facilitating debt relief and contributing to the country’s economic development.

The Arab League delegation was led by Zayd Al-Sabbaan, Director of the Horn of Africa and Sudan Department. Speaking at the meeting, Al-Sabbaan praised the Somali government’s efforts in achieving progress amid challenging circumstances.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the Arab League, particularly in political collaboration, economic development, and broader regional partnership.

The delegation’s visit marks a continued effort by the Arab League to deepen ties with Somalia and assist in the country’s reconstruction and development through targeted support in education and cultural initiatives.
