Son has a contract with the Spurs till the end of 2026. However, with increasing interest from Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC, the 33-year-old center forward wants to leave the club. His agent is already in advanced talks with the MLS club.

When will Son’s last game for the Spurs be?

Son Heung-min is currently with the Tottenham Hotspur Squad in South Korea. It is quite remarkable that the South Korean international will end his Spurs career with their tour game against Newcastle United in a friendly game on Sunday. He will captain the side as well.

It was Son himself who came out publicly about his intention of leaving the club. During a press conference ahead of their game against Newcastle United, Son briefed the media on his future plans.

“It was obviously the most difficult decision I have made. To spend 10 years at the Club makes him so proud. I feel I have achieved everything I can here. I am grateful the team has accepted my decision,” Son said.

“It has been quite a while since I made the decision to leave the Club. Recent days have been difficult. It was difficult to stay bright on the outside but I did my best not to harm the club or my teammates. Although the decision has been made, I want to make good memories with the fans in our two days here,” Son added.

“I spoke with only a few guys. They will be disappointed – in a respectful way. I’m very close with Ben, so we have spoken about the future, but he respected my decision. It is hard to tell my teammates as you are spending almost more time with them than your family. People will be disappointed but in a happy way. That was my feeling, but I don’t know what the actual feeling is,” Son answered when he was asked if he had revealed his intention to his teammates.

“For me personally, I would have loved to have worked with this fantastic person and player. He is a true Spurs legend in every aspect. One of the greatest players to play in the Premier League. It is never easy to find the perfect timing, and me coming in from the side it makes it a bit easier to end on a high,” Spurs coach Thomas Frank expressed.
