Stellantis reshuffles leadership in India to prep for Leapmotor EV launch, Jeep, Citroen push | Auto News

Auto News

Stellantis India has announced key leadership changes as it prepares to launch Leapmotor EVs and push Citroën and Jeep brands in the country. The realignment focuses on retail, partnerships, and mobility to sharpen the company’s strategy in a growing Indian auto market.

Stellantis India has reshuffled key leadership roles ahead of Leapmotor’s India launch.

Stellantis India is shaking up its leadership structure as it prepares for a busy year, with the upcoming India entry of Leapmotor and renewed focus on Jeep and Citroën. The auto group, which is trying to find its rhythm in a crowded Indian car market, has made key changes in its senior management aimed at improving efficiency and speeding up decision-making.

This leadership reorganisation comes at a time when Stellantis is looking to expand its portfolio, especially in electric and budget-friendly segments. With Leapmotor expected to hit Indian roads soon and both Jeep and Citroën trying to build stronger brand recall, the timing of these shifts signals the company’s attempt to realign internally before big product plays.

What Stellantis changed at the top

The reshuffle brings two key roles into sharper focus:

  • Kumar Priyesh will now take charge of the Retail Business, which includes sales and network development for Citroën, Jeep, and Leapmotor. This means he’ll be overseeing how these brands are sold, where they’re sold, and how they show up across India. His role becomes critical as Leapmotor’s entry could widen Stellantis’ presence in the affordable EV space.
  • Shishir Mishra steps into a broader portfolio handling strategic partnerships, institutional sales, mobility services, pre-owned cars, and finance & insurance solutions. His focus will be more B2B and ecosystem-driven, particularly around newer business models like mobility-as-a-service and vehicle finance tie-ups.

At the top, Shailesh Hazela continues as CEO & MD of Stellantis India, keeping an eye on how these changes align with the company’s broader global roadmap, especially in a price-sensitive and competitive market like India.

Why this matters for Indian auto buyers

Stellantis hasn’t had it easy in India. Citroën is still finding its feet, and Jeep’s once-strong hold has thinned out due to rising prices and newer rivals. The upcoming Leapmotor, which Stellantis has a controlling stake in, could be a game-changer if priced right.

Leapmotor’s range in China includes compact EVs that could go head-to-head with the Tata Tiago EV or the MG Comet if positioned well under ₹15 lakh. The brand also makes mid-size EV SUVs like the Leapmotor C10 which has a 420 km range and 170 kmph top speed.
