Stocks To Watch Today, August 18: The domestic equity markets are set for a gap-up opening on Monday, on the back of firm domestic signals and steady global trends. The GIFT Nifty trades higher by 266 points or 1.07% at 24,921, indicating early strength in trade. Here are stocks to watch for today based on companies’ quarterly results, fresh orders, acquisitions, and leadership changes.

Q1 Earnings in Focus

A mixed bag of quarterly results came in from companies across sectors.

Vodafone Idea‘s losses widened to Rs 6,608.1 crore, though revenue grew nearly 5%.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals saw profit plunge 86% YoY to Rs 47 crore due to exceptional losses, while revenue remained flat.

Spandana Sphoorty Financial slipped into a Rs 360.2 crore loss, hurt by higher impairments.

Inox Wind reported a strong quarter with profit more than doubling to Rs 97.3 crore, supported by 29% revenue growth.

Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services posted a 56% jump in profit, with revenues up 31.6%.

Jindal Poly Films saw profit fall 84.5%, while National Fertilizers posted a wider loss as revenue tanked over 30%.

Easy Trip Planners (EaseMyTrip) posted a 98.7% profit decline, while Swan Energy and Glenmark too reported steep drops.

Jyoti Structures delivered a turnaround with profit up 119% YoY.

On the brighter side, Indo Rama Synthetics swung to a profit of Rs 52.75 crore, aided by 38% revenue growth.

Credit Ratings Upgraded

S&P Global Ratings upgraded several large Indian corporates and banks.

ONGC, Power Grid, NTPC, and Tata Power were raised to ‘BBB’ from ‘BBB-‘. Banks, including SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank, and Indian Bank, also received upgrades, along with finance players Bajaj Finance, Tata Capital, and L&T Finance.

Order Wins and Project Announcements

Several companies reported fresh order inflows and new project plans.

KEC International bagged contracts worth Rs 1,402 crore across its businesses, pushing YTD order intake past Rs 8,400 crore.

PNC Infratech won a 300 MW solar power project with energy storage from NHPC.

EMS secured an order worth Rs 104 crore from UP Jal Nigam.

Globe Civil Projects landed a Rs 222.2 crore order to construct an international cricket stadium in Haryana.

JK Cement approved a Rs 4,805 crore greenfield expansion project in Rajasthan and Punjab.

Acquisitions & Partnerships

Merger & acquisition activity was another highlight.

EaseMyTrip announced three acquisitions, including a 50% stake in London’s Three Falcons Hotel and a full buyout of AB Finance in Gurugram.

Dixon Technologies partnered with HKC Overseas, which will take a 26% stake in its subsidiary for LCD and TFT module manufacturing.

KPIT Technologies completed the first tranche ($51 million) of its $157 million acquisition of Caresoft Global.

Sudarshan Pharma Industries will acquire land and plant assets in Telangana for Rs 25.5 crore.

Signature Global acquired 33.47 acres in Gurugram to expand its land bank.

Regulatory & Compliance Updates

Vedanta received a warning from SEBI for modifying a Scheme of Arrangement without prior consent.

Somany Ceramics temporarily halted production at its Kassar plant after gas supply from GAIL was disrupted due to flooding.

Green Energy Developments

Torrent Power inaugurated a green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur with 72 TPA annual capacity, blending hydrogen into its city gas network.

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company resumed production at Block B-80 after re-mooring its FSO vessel.

Expansion & New Launches

PVR INOX opened new multiplexes in Bengaluru and Mumbai, taking its network to 1,763 screens.

Lemon Tree Hotels won DDA rights to develop a 5-star property at Nehru Place, New Delhi.

All Time Plastics: Sun Life Excel India Fund bought nearly 6 lakh shares, while ICICI Bank sold part of its stake.

Authum Investment & Infrastructure: Promoter Mentor Capital sold a 2.74% stake worth Rs 1,165.6 crore, part of which was bought by Fidelity Blue Chip Growth Fund.

Indostar Capital Finance appointed Amit Kumar Khan as COO.

Valor Estate reappointed Vinod K. Goenka as Executive Chairman & MD for three years.

Edelweiss Financial Services‘ Venkat Ramaswamy will step down from executive duties at EAAA India Alternatives but continue on the parent board.
