STR 49 goes on floors; Simbu-Santhanam-Kayadu Lohar film gets launched in style; See video

STR 49, the upcoming film starring actor Silambarasan in the lead role, has begun rolling with the inaugural ceremony taking place. Silambarasan, who had been missing onscreen for some time now, had announced films back-to-back, with this project to be one among them. STR 49 is directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan who previously helmed Parking.

STR 49 is an upcoming project headlined by Silambarasan. The film features exciting cast members, including Dragon fame Kayadu Lohar as the female lead and comedian-actor Santhanam who will be reuniting with Simbu after a long time, and VTV Ganesh.

The film’s inaugural ceremony took place recently. STR 49 is produced by Aakash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures banner, with music by Sai Abhyankkar, who is the recent sensation in the music scene and has been bagging big projects one after the other, including Suriya 45 and Benz. A release date for STR 49 IS yet to be announced.

It is to be noted that STR 49 will see the reunion of Santhanam and Simbu after a long time. Interestingly, it was Simbu who first introduced Santhanam to big screens with his film Manmadhan way back in 2004. The rest of the cast members are yet to be announced.

Where to watch Simbu-Santhanam films

Apart from Manmadhan , the duo went on to pair up in films such as Vallavan which became a smasher hit; Vaanam, in which Santhanam’s comedy track was much talked about and Osthe, a remake of Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg. All these films are available for streaming on OTTplay Premium.

Meanwhile, Simbu is gearing up for the release of Thug Life on June 5. On the other hand, you will see Santhanam a lot sooner with DD Next Level scheduled to release on May 16.
