The high school football season is right around the corner. As we flip the calendar to August and classes begin across the tri-county, it’s time to look ahead to a busy fall on the gridiron.
The Sumter Item will host its sixth-annual Hines Furniture Football Media Day on Saturday, Aug. 2. The event will be hosted in our newsroom at 36 W. Liberty St. as all 12 tri-county football teams dive into the season ahead. Media day will kick off at 10 a.m.
In years past, we have also livestreamed the event on Facebook. This year, we’ll be recording each team’s session and posting them daily throughout the leadup to the start of football season. The media day will also help fill our annual football preview Gridiron, which is set to publish with the Aug. 20 edition of The Item.
