‘Talk to Me’ Directors Tease “Horrific” and “Insane” Sequel to A24 Horror Film
Talk to Me directors Daniel and Michael Philippou tease a “horrific” and “insane” sequel to the chilling movie that made audiences cover their eyes in 2023. Talk to Me 2 or Talk 2 Me, depending on what you prefer to call it, is still in development. While the Philippous are enjoying the great response that their most recent film has received, they offered a few details about the sequel to the A24 horror film.
In 2023, a very small film landed in theaters all across the globe and managed to scare audiences out of their minds. Although Talk to Me was the feature-length directorial debut of the Philippou brothers — whose previous work had only appeared on YouTube— their tale of demonic possession became one of the year’s best horror films. The critical reception and box office performance were equally outstanding, and talks of a sequel began soon after. However, in a rare moment for Hollywood, the Philippous decided they were not going to make Talk to Me 2 right away. If they were going to shock audiences again, they wanted to do it right.

Talk to Me: The Scariest Moments in the A24 Film
A new cult favorite horror flick from A24, Talk to Me is being hailed as a great film choked with brilliant scares. These are our favorites ones.
The directors are staying busy promoting Bring Her Back, and they spoke with Bloody Disgusting, via The Boo Crew Podcast, about the film’s upcoming release on May 30. Of course, it didn’t take long for them to address the current status of Talk to Me 2—a project that many assumed would take priority over everything else. The siblings confirmed that we still may have to wait a bit longer.
They’re currently finishing a documentary, and then they will jump to another horror movie that is not Talk to Me 2. Finishing each other’s sentences, the Philippous revealed the status of the sequel while saying that they had a pretty good reason for not making the movie sooner:
“We have two versions of the script for Talk to Me 2 that are focusing on two different sets of characters that are in two different places. I’m equally excited about both. There’s one scene in one of them that I think will be one of the best things I’ll ever shoot.
“I think it’s so horrific. I’m like, ‘This is insane,’ and I’ve already started talking to people. I’m like, ‘How can we pull this off practically?’ So those conversations are happening, but it’s about stepping away from the world and then coming back into it super reinvigorated. So that’s why we didn’t do that next.
“I’m writing another horror movie at the moment, which I adore so much. And it feels like it’s huge. So there’s that. And then I think it would be Talk to Me 2.”
The Philippou Brothers Once Again Prove Their Horror Mastery With ‘Bring Her Back’
Bring Her Back is the Philippou brothers’ new horror film starring Sally Hawkins, which once again includes the directing duo’s uniquely terrifying sensibilities. However, this is not a rehash of their previous work. Even though nailing the same tone as Talk to Me would have been the easy choice, the brothers took another direction, and they apparently have another major horror hit: “We wanted to do something different from Talk to Me. It’s still a horror film, but it’s more psychological.” MovieWeb’s own Will Sayre called the movie “a nearly flawless follow-up” to their debut. Our review:
“Bolstered by first-rate performances from two-time Oscar-nominee Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) and a trio of young actors, Bring Her Back keeps audiences guessing, with a relatable undercurrent about grief and holding onto deceased loved ones.”
In addition to Hawkins, the cast of Bring Her Back features Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, and Mischa Heywood. Check out the logline below:
