Digital economy and innovation pioneer Debjani Ghosh, a Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog, will be among the eminent speakers at Rising Bharat Summit 2025 on April 8 and 9 in New Delhi. The summit, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be speaking, brings together visionaries to chart India’s journey toward global leadership.

Debjani Ghosh brings her extensive experience and expertise in the key space of ‘technology for development’ to the summit. With a career spanning three decades, she is also the chief architect of the NITI Frontier Tech Hub, India’s primary think tank that advances the country’s readiness in frontier technologies for economic and social development.

As president of Nasscom – the first woman to hold the position – from 2018 to 2024, she championed the development of a robust deep-tech ecosystem in India. A student of economics and political science who got an MBA to boot, she was the first woman to lead tech giant Intel’s South Asia operations, before moving on to Cisco, Nasscom, and NITI Aayog.

She is seen as a top voice in the fast-moving Artificial Intelligence (AI) space. In a recent article, she wrote: “The AI Plus Era is about more than just algorithms; it’s about fundamentally reimagining how we discover, build, and innovate. This is an industrial revolution powered by data and algorithms.”

Her global leadership catchphrases for India, ‘Think Digital, Think India’ and ‘Inevitable India’ resonated with India’s transforming narrative: from being seen as a low-cost outsourcing hub to now being recognised as a global powerhouse of top talent and innovation.

She also serves on the boards of Karmayogi Bharat and RBI Innovation Hub.

In January 2018, she was felicitated by the President of India under the ‘First Ladies’ programme, which honours women pioneers in their respective fields. In 2020, Vogue chose her as the Tech Leader of the Year, and she has also been listed among India’s most powerful women in tech by Business Today.

She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Osmania University in Hyderabad; and MBA in marketing from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai.
