Telesat has named a new CFO with the upcoming retirement of longtime CFO Andrew Browne. Telesat has hired Donald Tremblay, CFO of Quebec-based mining company Champion Iron. His appointment will be effective October 20, 2025.
Telesat highlighted Tremblay’s experience in publicly traded companies in high-growth, capital intensive industries and cited his experience in equity and debt capital market transactions, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and risk management.
Tremblay has also served as CFO of power plant operator TransAlta and Brookfield Renewable, where he contributed to growing the company’s market capitalization from $300 million to over $2.5 billion.
“Donald’s extensive leadership experience, broad financial expertise, and deep understanding of capital markets make him a valuable addition to Telesat’s executive team,” Telesat CEO Dan Goldberg commented.
Browne is a long-time satellite industry financial leader and has been with Telesat since 2019. He was previously the CFO of SES and O3b Networks and worked on the SES acquisitions of New Skies and O3b Networks.
“We’re deeply grateful to Andrew for his leadership, dedication, professionalism and collegiality throughout his tenure at Telesat. He played a critical role in securing the funding required for Telesat Lightspeed and in laying the foundation as Telesat transitioned to a public company,” Goldberg said.
