Diwali has always been a grand season for Bollywood, and this year’s festive box office witnessed a major clash between Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Both films managed to pull in audiences and create buzz, but as the numbers started rolling in, one of them clearly emerged as the frontrunner, taking the lead in the holiday race.
Thamma Box Office Collection Day 5:
Thamma opened on a strong note, collecting Rs 24 crore on its first day across India (Rs 23.75 crore from Hindi and Rs 0.25 crore from Telugu versions). However, the film witnessed a gradual decline over the next few days earning Rs 18.6 crore on Day 2 (Wednesday), Rs 13 crore on Day 3 (Thursday), and Rs 10 crore on Day 4 (Friday).
The film saw some recovery on Day 5 (Saturday) with early estimates suggesting Rs 13 crore. With this, Thamma’s total India net collection stands at approximately Rs 78.6 crore within its first five days of release.
About Thamma:
The movie focuses on a man, who is turned into a vampiric creature called Betal. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles.
The movie also had a cameo role of Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee as Thamma is a part of the same universe as Stree and Bhediya.
As Thamma became the biggest opener of Ayushmann’s career, the actor thanked for Dinesh Vijan and his fans for their love. “Having carved a niche with my unique, quirky films, I was eagerly waiting for that one opportunity to bring my brand of cinema on Diwali – a festival that has seen the biggest of the biggest superstars release their tentpole films in. Thamma is the tentpole film of my career and I’m fortunate to have got Diwali to release it. Every year, I used to go to theatres with my family to watch a superstar’s film release. Today, I have gone to theatres to watch my film with my family. It feels incredible!” he said in a statement.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Box Office Collection Day 5:
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat had a modest start at the box office, earning Rs 9 crore on its opening day. The film saw a slight drop on Day 2 (Wednesday) with Rs 7.75 crore, followed by Rs 6 crore on Day 3 (Thursday) and Rs 5.5 crore on Day 4 (Friday), indicating a steady downward trend through the weekdays.
However, the film managed a small pickup on Day 5 (Saturday) with early estimates of Rs 5.75 crore. With this, the total India net collection of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat stands at around Rs 34 crore after five days.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles with Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, Ananth Narayan Mahadevan and Rajesh Khera.
In an earlier interview with News9Live, director Milap Zaveri talked about his experience of working with Harshvardhan. “It was amazing to shoot Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat with Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. Both are such great actors and human beings. It’s an intense, powerful musical love story, and while the scenes were dramatic, we had a lot of fun also off-camera. Must give huge credit to the producers Anshul Garg and Raghav Sharma, who pulled off a very difficult shoot in record time,” he said.
The movie focuses on Vikramaditya, who falls in love with Adaa, but she does not feel the same. His affection and love soon turn into obsession as his insecurities consume him.
