Celebrities are proving the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is suitable for pretty much any occasion. Idris Elba showed off a classic, stainless-steel example at the Venice Film Festival, Justin Bieber rocked a white ceramic iteration at a basketball tournament in Los Angeles, and Gunna flexed a dazzling, gem-encrusted variation at the U.S. Open.
APs weren’t the only watches we spotted on the wrists of celebs this week, though. Colman Domingo, Paul Dano, and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson hit the red carpet in Venice wearing timepieces by Omega, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Chopard, respectively, as Jeremy Allen White sported an ace Louis Vuitton Tambour at the U.S. Open.
Below are the best watch flexes of the week.
-
Colman Domingo: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra
Image Credit: Getty/OmegaColman Domingo is continuing his Omega streak. The actor, who wore a Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional at the Oscars and a De Ville Prestige at the SAG Awards earlier this year, paired a Seamaster Aqua Terra with a custom Valentino look for the red carpet in Venice on Tuesday. Released in 2024, this simple yet striking reference eschews the horizontal “teak” pattern that typically graces the Aqua Terra dial in favor of black varnish with a lacquer finish. The model is available with either a 41, 38, or 34 mm stainless-steel case, with a different Master Chronometer-certified movement added depending on the size. The 41 comes with a Caliber 8900 and costs $7,000.

Jeremy Allen White: Louis Vuitton Tambour
Image Credit: Louis Vuitton/GettyJeremy Allen White was serving quiet luxury on day nine of the U.S. Open, wearing a casual ‘fit and a Louis Vuitton Tambour. The first Tambour was released in 2002, but the French maison reimagined the flagship model in 2023. The newest iteration is slimmer than the original and also features an integrated bracelet for a sporty feel. This particular 40 mm reference (W1SP10) has a stainless-steel case and bracelet with rose-gold accents and a grey dial with a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. Powered by the calibre LFT023 automatic movement, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. It will cost you $28,700.
-
Idris Elba: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding
Image Credit: Audemars Piguet/GettyIdris Elba looked straight fire at the A House of Dynamite premiere in Venice on Tuesday, rocking a steely Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a gray suit from his clothing line, Eve of Winston. It is difficult to tell the exact reference, but it looks like a special edition Selfwinding that is currently listed on the AP site for $72,700. No crazy complications, diamond-encrusted bezels, or skeletonized elements here, but the 41 mm white-gold piece does have an elegant smoked blue “Grande Tapisserie” dial with darkened edges that extend to the silver-gray inner bezel.
-
Gunna: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Rainbow’
Image Credit: Audemars Piguet/GettyRapper Gunna flexed an ace, gem-encrusted Audemars Piguet at the U.S. Open on Tuesday. The antithesis of Elba’s relatively restrained Royal Oak, this dazzling reference features a shimmering 38 mm case and bracelet in 18-carat Frosted Gold, a striking open-worked dial that spotlights a self-winding caliber 3132 with a double balance wheel, and a bezel set with 32 baguette-cut rainbow-coloured sapphires. Price is upon request, naturally. Gunna is proving himself to be quite a collector, previously showing off a Cartier Baignoire Allongée and a Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5968R.
-
Dwayne Johnson: Chopard Alpine Eagle
Image Credit: Chopard/GettyDwayne Johnson received a 15-minute standing ovation for his film The Smashing Machine at the Venice Film Festival. The Chopard watch he wore to the screening on Monday deserved a round of applause, too. A contemporary riff on the Saint Moritz, a.k.a. the first timepiece Karl-Friedrich Scheufele created in 1980, the Alpine Eagle was inspired by the Alps and the eagle that flies over the mountain range. Released a few years ago, this particular iteration features a 41 mm case in ethical 18-karat rose gold and an “Aletsch” blue dial with a finish that evokes an eagle’s iris. Powered by the in-house, self-winding 01.01-C caliber, the watch displays the hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The smashing machine will set you back $63,300. The Rock paired his with a Prada suit and pieces from Chopard’s Ice Cube collection.
-
Paul Dano: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph
Image Credit: Jaeger-LeCoultre/GettyThe Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute that Paul Dano wore to The Wizard of the Kremlin premiere in Venice on Sunday showcases some real watchmaking wizardry. Released in 2023, the 49.4 mm pink-gold chronograph (Ref. Q389257J) has two faces that the wearer can seamlessly switch between. The black dial elegantly displays the time, while the open-worked reverse side shows all the details of the Calibre 860. The hour markers and minute track float above the retrograde chronograph, creating a real statement on the wrist. This JLC will cost you $40,300.

Justin Bieber: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
Image Credit: Audemars Piguet/GettyJustin Bieber pulled out a swish Audemars Piguet Royal Oak for his recent The League X Blem basketball tournament event in Los Angeles. Released in 2023, this 34 mm reference is smaller and simpler than the majority of Royal Oaks on the market. It also showcases a slightly unusual material, with the case, bezel, and bracelet crafted in white ceramic. The dial features AP’s signature “Grande Tapisserie” pattern and is colored in a silvery white that makes the rose-gold accents pop. The monochromatic beauty retails for $76,500.
