The Bourne Academy named as a lead school for music

This comes as part of the South Coast Music Partnership (SCMP) Music Hub initiative.

SoundStorm, the music education development agency for BCP, confirmed the school’s appointment after a rigorous application process.

The SCMP leadership team praised the “breadth, quality and enthusiasm” of music-making at the school.

The academy will join Twynham School as joint secondary leads, while Baden-Powell & St Peter Junior and Longfleet CE Primary will be joint leads for the primary phase.

Linwood School will lead on behalf of special schools.

As a lead school, The Bourne Academy will play a key role in shaping the future of music education across the region, supporting collaboration, sharing best practices, and ensuring that music continues to thrive in schools and communities.

Mark Avoth, principal of The Bourne Academy, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for our commitment to music and creative arts.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students, staff, and the wider community.

“We look forward to working with our partners to inspire the next generation of musicians and performers.”

The Bourne Academy invites anyone interested in learning more about the school to its open evenings on Wednesday, September 24 and Wednesday, October 15, from 6pm to 8pm and 5.30pm to 7pm, respectively.
