The Chucky Movie Brad Dourif Picked as His Personal Favorite Is Now on Peacock

Horror icon Brad Dourif has been voicing Charles Lee Ray (better known by his nickname, Chucky) since the original Child’s Play movie released in 1988. He once picked Bride of Chucky as his personal favorite, and fans can revisit the film by now streaming it on Peacock.

Bride of Chucky was made available to stream on Peacock on June 1, joined by its follow-up film, Seed of Chucky. Released in 1998, the film serves as the fourth installment of the franchise, though it was the first to drop the Child’s Play name from its title. Of course, as the title suggests, the film also introduces Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, who has since become very popular with fans and just as important to the franchise.

Slasher Icons Kane Hodder & Bill Moseley Team Back Up for Another Horror Movie

Two of the slasher genre’s most beloved icons are teaming back up for another new horror film.

In 2023, while reflecting on the 35th anniversary of his debut as the Chucky character, Dourif shared that Bride of Chucky is his “favorite movie” in the franchise (via People). The actor has played Chucky in seven films before reprising his role for three seasons of the TV series Chucky. After the first three Child’s Play films, he voiced the killer doll in 1998’s Bride of Chucky, 2004’s Seed of Chucky, 2013’s Curse of Chucky, and 2017’s Cult of Chucky. A 2019 remake of Child’s Play featured Mark Hamill voicing an alternate version of the character, but Chucky remains synonymous with Dourif.

Bride of Chucky Introduced Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany

Directed by Ronny Yu, Bride of Chucky was written by Don Mancini. It marked a turning point when the movie series fully embraced its humor, as it also served as a dark comedy. In the film, Chucky reunites with his former lover, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), whose soul gets transferred into another doll, becoming his “bride.” The sequel also starred Katherine Heigl, Nick Stabile, Alexis Arquette, Kathy Najimy, and John Ritter.

Pete Davidson’s New Horror From The Purge Creator Premieres Tension-Filled Trailer

After starring in the black comedy horror Bodies Bodies Bodies, Pete Davidson joined a more terrifying horror.

“She wants to have a good relationship with, you know, her man, which is Chucky,” Tilly said last year about why Tiffany keeps going back to Chucky. “Unfortunately… That’s never going to happen because her man is Chucky… [Chucky and Tiffany are] bound for life. I think she is bound to Chucky. She loves Chucky so much. She’s always going to have a toxic dysfunctional relationship with this person, but they are definitely, definitely bound together.”

Fans will have to stick with classic Chucky titles for now with the future of the franchise unclear. After three seasons, Chucky was canceled, though fans still feel there’s more to do with the character. Mancini has hinted that he has another feature film with Dourif’s Chucky in the planning stages, but not much else is known about the project. It would seem that even with the TV show canceled, the OG Chucky isn’t finished with his murdering sprees just yet.
