37 billion pesos in federal investment was announced for Yucatán during the kickoff of construction of the Maya Train freight line.
On Saturday, April 26th, the governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, and the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, led the kickoff of construction of the Progreso Multimodal Cargo Terminal of the Maya Train.
This project will have an investment of 25 billion pesos and will change the destiny of Yucatán and its inhabitants, in addition to the expansion and modernization of the Deep Sea Port, which will have resources of 12 billion pesos.
“With a historic investment of more than 12 billion pesos, the port will be expanded to attract new investment and facilitate exports. This project, which begins today, with an investment of more than 25 billion pesos, will take the Mayan Train one step further so that Yucatán can take off as a strategic point for generating better-paying jobs through investment and achieving shared prosperity,” said Díaz Mena.
This project will strengthen the transportation of goods, but it will also be a driver of tourism and new business opportunities for all economic sectors in the region, thus turning Progreso into a strategic point for national and international trade, he added.
With these projects, Díaz Mena concluded, not only will goods and regions be connected, but also the people and Yucatán will be connected to the future it deserves. “We are making history with projects that will last beyond five decades, but also with public policies that put human development at the center,” he said.
“This launch marks the beginning of the Mayan Freight Train, allowing all of southeastern Mexico to achieve greater development than has already been achieved. The freight train will provide enormous potential for efficient transportation of products produced in other regions or here in the southeast,” President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized.
