Donald Trump has revealed his thoughts on the British Royal Family plenty of times and the President doesn’t hold back. From his thoughts on Prince Harry to his opinions on meeting King Charles, Trump hasn’t been shy about sharing his insight into some of The Firm’s most senior members.

The President has revealed to reporters what he thinks of Harry and Meghan while taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on Princess Catherine. Over the years, his opinions on some people have changed but his fascination with the British monarchy has remained.

When Keir Starmer was Prime Minister, he handed Trump a letter from the King inviting him for a second state visit during his visit to the White House. Trump said of the King: “He’s a beautiful man, a wonderful man and we appreciate – I’ve known him, gotten to know him very well, actually, first term and now second term.”

While he has had a change of heart towards the King, they first met in 2019 when Charles was a prince. Trump was said to be “bored” and found the meeting “terrible”, according to former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham. She says Trump complained after the pair’s first meeting over tea at Clarence House in 2019.

Prince Harry left the UK in 2020 to live in California with his wife Meghan Markle for six years. Although they are back living in the UK now, Trump had been aware of the prince taking up residence in the states and he certainly had things to say about it, reports Hello! Magazine.

Trump lambasted Harry and Meghan, accusing them of treating the late Queen “very disrespectfully”. But he appeared to rule out deporting Harry, saying: “I’ll leave him alone” and adding: “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.” Meghan has previously called Trump “divisive” and a “misogynist”. Trump was asked by reporters what he thought about the Sussexes making a return to the UK. He said: “I’m happy about it,” adding “I was not a fan.”

Trump praised Princess Catherine during a state visit, calling her “perfect” and “so great”. In regards to her cancer diagnosis at the time, he asked: “How’s she doing?” He went on to praise her bravery, saying: “She’s so great. She was sick, people said crazy things about her, and she was so brave.”

But, years earlier, Trump had commented on the princess when she had made headline news. Princess Catherine had been photographed by paparazzi while sunbathing topless on a private holiday in 2012. At the time, Trump tweeted: “Kate Middleton is great – but she shouldn’t be sunbathing in the nude – only herself to blame.”
