The World Bank affirms its intention to finance agricultural studies and projects in Tunisia.

During their meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Ezzedine Ben Cheikh, in Tunis, World Bank representatives affirmed their intention to finance new studies and projects in Tunisia, thus contributing to strengthening food security and helping Tunisian farmers overcome the challenges they face.
On the sidelines of the “One Health for the Middle East and North Africa” Conference, World Bank representatives expressed the Bank’s commitment to supporting Tunisia in the agricultural sector, particularly livestock farming, and to sustaining the results of joint projects between the ministry and the Bank.
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Ezzedine Ben Cheikh, emphasized the importance of the technical and financial support provided by the international institution, emphasizing the need to develop joint strategies to ensure the sustainability of results and improved productivity. The World Bank delegation, led by Shobha Shetty, Global Director for Agriculture and Food, discussed with the Minister the progress made under the PRUSA Emergency Response Project for Food Security in Tunisia, as well as several topics related to strengthening future cooperation between the two parties.
It is worth noting that Tunisia is hosting the “One Health – A Secure Future” conference on June 14 and 15 at the International Diplomatic Academy in Tunis. This conference is supported by the World Bank and in collaboration with the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). This regional conference, which brought together ministers and representatives from 14 countries, aimed to strengthen partnerships, exchange expertise, and discuss practical and applicable recommendations and proposals to combat epidemics and viruses that threaten human and animal health and impact the ecological balance.
