Timothée Chalamet Goes Y2K in Chanel at ‘A Complete Unknown’ Premiere
Timothée Chalamet brought a Chanel staple to the premiere of “A Complete Unknown” in Paris on Wednesday. The actor portrays Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s new biopic.
Chalamet modeled a leather jacket by the French fashion house, layering it over a white T-shirt and Isabel Marant jeans. Channeling Y2K style, he completed his look with combat boots — also by Marant — a skinny pink scarf and a bleach-dyed baseball cap.

The “Wonka” star was styled by Ryan Hastings, who also counts Anya Taylor-Joy and Natalie Portman as clients.
On the red carpet, Chalamet posed with costars Edward Norton and Monica Barbaro, who wore a plaid double-breasted suit and a beige Dior gown, respectively. Mangold also joined the trio.
Chanel first introduced its signature collarless tweed jacket in 1954. Trademarks like gilt buttons and braided trim were also added to the design, which originated with the introduction of the tweed skirt suit in the 1920s. It wasn’t until the ’50s, however, that the jacket was updated with its recognizable silhouette.

Chalamet has a history with Chanel, having fronted campaigns for the label’s Bleu de Chanel cologne.
“We want to ensure that our 100-year-old iconic house continues to thrive and stay a beacon of inspiration for the next 100 years. And we want to do that by staying focused on the transformative power of creation and innovation,” Leena Nair, Chanel’s global chief executive officer told WWD in 2023, highlighting the appointment of Chalamet as Bleu de Chanel’s face as one example.
Matthieu Blazy, former creative director at Bottega Veneta, was recently announced as Chanel’s new artistic director, succeeding Virginie Viard.
