Tired of Delhi-NCR rains already? Check out Snapdeal founder’s funny take on the waterlogging woes

An incessant spell of light to moderate rain for the past two days in Delhi-NCR has led to waterlogging issues in several areas of the city. Many parts of the city have also witnessed heavy traffic jams due to waterlogged stretches.

Snapdeal co-founder Kunal Bahl, who shared funny and insightful titbits with his 283.2K Twitter followers, posted a video of Gurugram’s waterlogged road on Thursday night.

The entrepreneur took the 11-second-long video from his phone while travelling by road. His caption read, “Water sports in Gurgaon today.”

He again posted on Friday, “It’s a swim day again today.”

When a user asked how long took it took him to get back home, he promptly replied, “one-and-a-half hours.”

Bahl shared another post on social media which showed the people of the city walking the waterlogged Delhi-Gurugram expressway after heavy rainfall. He captioned the post, “Just swam through it. Was good fun.”

His quirky sense of humour opened floodgates to more jokes and memes.

Even, NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh joked about the investor forgetting his boat again at home. Her comment was liked by Bahl.

Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted more rain on Friday. The Delhi Traffic Police helpline said they received 23 calls related to traffic jams, seven regarding waterlogging and two related to the uprooting of trees from different parts of Delhi on Thursday.

Earlier this month, Kalaari Capital Founder and Managing Director Vani Kola, who is based out of India’s Silicon Valley, experienced major difficulty commuting within the city when Bengaluru was struggling with the worst case of waterlogging due to incessant heavy rains. The city already had a reputation for insane traffic jams, but the waterlogging made the situation worse.

Alongside an 11-second-long video of the flooded city street, the entrepreneur shared that she was on the way to the Bengaluru airport, which is situated around 35 kilometres (approximately one hour) away from the main city. After struggling for three hours to reach the airport, she ‘gave up’ and missed her flight. “A futile attempt,” she wrote.

The venture capitalist, who had the worst time due to waterlogged roads, said her heart goes out to the people who have been suffering because of this situation. She asked, “As a major city, the IT capital, shouldn’t we have the basic infrastructure in place?”

Delhi and National Capital Regions are dealing with a similar situation on Friday after several parts witnessed flood-like situations due to the non-stop heavy rains for 24 hours.
