Top 100 Airports in the World: Just 4 from India, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda is far behind Delhi’s IGI airport – Check out the rankings here – Airlines/Aviation News
In the latest Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, only four Indian airports have earned a spot in the prestigious list of the top 100 airports globally, as ranked by the renowned aviation consultancy. New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport leads the Indian contingent, securing the 32nd position, it is also the only Indian airport to break into the top 50.
While none made it to the top 20, the rankings reflect a significant improvement in the global standing of Indian airports compared to previous years. The Skytrax Awards, considered a benchmark in the aviation industry, evaluate airports based on passenger satisfaction, service quality, and the overall travel experience. Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi — Ranked 32nd
India’s busiest airport has climbed from 36th in 2024 to 32nd in 2025. Known for its sleek terminals, impressive art installations, and efficient operations, it continues to set the benchmark for Indian airports.
Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru — Ranked 48th
With the launch of its stunning new nature-themed Terminal 2, Bengaluru’s airport rose from 58th in 2024 to 48th in 2025. The terminal’s gardens, art, and sustainable design have earned global praise.
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad — Ranked 56th
Noted for its cleanliness and seamless passenger experience, Hyderabad moved up from 59th to 56th, steadily building a reputation for excellence.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai — Ranked 73rd
Mumbai’s iconic airport, known for its artistic interiors and busy terminals, improved significantly from 95th to 73rd this year.
Which are the best airports globally?
Singapore’s Changi Airport was named the World’s Best Airport for a record 13th time by Skytrax. Changi continues to redefine the travel experience for the airtravellers. With its luxurious amenities, lush indoor gardens, and immersive attractions, it feels more like a destination in itself than a transit hub.
Following Changi, Hamad International Airport in Doha secured the second spot, lauded for its luxurious lounges, top-tier shopping, and art-infused architecture. The next few spots were dominated by Asian heavyweights: Tokyo Haneda, Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Narita, and Hong Kong International—a clear indication of Asia’s lead in airport excellence.
From Europe, Paris Charles de Gaulle led the way at No. 7, joined by other major hubs like Rome, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, and Amsterdam in the top 20. Vancouver International Airport stood out as the only representative from the Americas, claiming the 13th spot. Meanwhile, Cape Town International was crowned Africa’s Best Airport, also winning for Best Staff Service on the continent.
