Top 5 best-selling cars in March 2025: Creta reigns supreme – Car News
Hyundai Exter CNG rivals Tata Punch CNG whose prices start from Rs 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The latter also comes with dual-cylinder CNG technology.
Hyundai staged an impressive comeback in March, reclaiming its spotlight with flair. After the company dropped to third place in February, the Creta surged to the top spot last month, driving Hyundai back to the number two position in the manufacturer rankings, overtaking Mahindra. The ever-popular Maruti Suzuki Swift took the runner-up place followed by Tata Punch. The top five were rounded up by the Wagon R and the Ertiga respectively. In February, the Creta was the only non-Maruti vehicle in the top five, but in March, the Tata Punch clawed its way breaking through the Maruti shackles.

The Creta continues to be the only mid-size SUV that snatches the crown from the hatchbacks, compact SUVs and sedans, basically the Dzire. The Hyundai SUV clocked 18,059 units in March, which is a 10% increase year-on-year (Y-o-Y). 2025 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Creta, which earlier launched its EV version.
The Swift missed being the number one four-wheeler in March by only 313 units. That is how close the competition is in the Indian market. With 17,746 units sold last month, the sporty hatch saw a growth of 13% Y-o-Y. In February, the hatch was the fourth best-selling vehicle of the month selling 16,269 units.
The resurgence of Punch saw the compact SUV back in the top five after managing to finish tenth in February. Tata Motors sold 17,714 units as compared to 14,559 vehicles in February 2025. The Punch continues to be Tata Motors’ hottest-selling vehicle and is the second SUV in the top five.
Good news for Maruti Suzuki as the Wagon R grabbed the top spot for the highest-selling vehicle in FY 2025 and in March it registered 17,175 units. This is a 5% hike Y-o-Y, but in February, the hatchback bulldozed it way to the second spot with 19,879 vehicles.
The most successful MPV in the market, the Ertiga returns to the top five with 16,804 units registering a 13% growth Y-o-Y.
