Tornos News | GNTO at the SATTE 2025 Exhibition in New Delhi

Greece was the only European country to participate in the SATTE 2025 International Exhibition in New Delhi (19-21/02/25) at the Exhibition, attracting the intense interest of thousands of professionals in the sector (Travel Agencies, Advertising Companies, Local Authorities, Tourism Media, etc.).

The exhibition was held at the new Yashobhoomi Exhibition Center, India International Convention and Expo Center in New Delhi and GNTO participated in the SATTE (South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange) International Exhibition with a 54 sq m pavilion. and co-exhibitors the Region of Central Macedonia, Mitsis Hotels, Costa Navarino, Aegean Airlines, and the Travel Agencies MAZI Travel Services and ASIT-ANATOLIA Travel.

The Exhibition was attended by 2,000+ Exhibitors from 50 countries, including Airlines, Travel Agencies, Hotels, and (28) National Tourism Organizations such as Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai UAE, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, etc., while professional visitors, according to the organizers, exceeded 40,000.

The Head of the Greek National Tourism Organization Service of China, Mr. Pavlos Mourmas, held more than 70 meetings with professionals in the field, while more than 1,300 business cards of professionals requesting information about Greece were collected from the reception desk of the GNTO kiosk.

The interest of the Travel Agents focused on the cooperation with local DMCs in Greece to promote packages for new destinations, on the implementation of Press – Fam Trips on behalf of the GNTO, as well as on joint promotional programs for the promotion of luxury tourism, family holidays, wedding tourism, etc. There was also particular interest in the Real Estate sector as well as investments in the tourism sector in Greece.

The Exhibition was honored with their presence by the Ambassador of Greece to India, Mrs. Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, the Head of the GNTO Office, Mr. Gerasimos Lazaris, who spoke with Mr. Pavlos Mourmas, and the co-exhibitors exchanged views and information regarding the Indian market as well as the need to operate a GNTO Office in the premises of the Greek Embassy.

Outbound tourism from India, according to the Indian Ministry of Tourism, is focused more on countries mainly with direct air connections where no visa is required or the procedures are simpler, resulting in these countries (e.g. UAE, Saudi Arabia, America, Thailand, Singapore, etc.) receiving 72.66% of outbound tourism, with Europe (mainly East-West) receiving 27.34%, with Indians preferring holiday & leisure travel (41.27%), diaspora visits (35.6%), business reasons (13.2%), studies (8.2%) and other reasons (1.2%).
