Tornos News | The Municipality of Thira at the Arabian Travel Market 2025 tourism exhibition

The Municipality of Thira and Geothira M.A.E. participated for the first time in the leading international tourism exhibition Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held in Dubai, from April 28 to May 1, 2025. Our islands were represented by the President of the Municipal Council, Mrs. Georgia Nomikou, and the CEO of GEOTHIRA M.A.E., Mr. Manolis Kafieris.

This year’s participation was recorded as the most productive to date for Santorini, thanks to the international nature of the exhibition, which attracted tourism professionals from three continents – Asia, Africa, and Oceania – as well as from the strategically important market of the Middle East. The turnout of visitors was impressive, with strong interest from the public and professionals wishing to get to know Greece.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the representatives of the Municipality had the opportunity to talk with the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, and the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Mr. Andreas Fiorentino, focusing on issues concerning the island and the further enhancement of its tourism potential.

The Santorini pavilion attracted a large number of tourism professionals, with particular mobility and interest from the markets of India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The meetings that took place confirmed the growing demand for travel to Santorini from these specific regions.

The presence of the Municipality of Thira at the Arabian Travel Market 2025 was an important step towards extroversion and broadening the target markets for the destination, enhancing the island’s visibility in new and emerging tourism markets.
